ACTIVITy DESCRIPTIONS

I will provide a year's worth of unique activities and many assessment tips. This program is created to last a year and then restart, which allows you to compare multiple points of data yearly to compare cognitive abilities should you choose.

You won't get coloring pages from me, although coloring is an incredibly calming activity. Instead, I create art activities with a Montessori approach so they work for all abilities. Many of these activities are meant to create treasured works of art that family members will appreciate for years to come.

This unique exercise program is easy to implement and highly engaging. Using music and rhythm, I utilize numerous patterns that are created to maintain interest and benefit the brain. I've seen many positive results. DiscoStix is easy to learn and is my creation. Most importantly, the residents and staff LOVE it.

Drum circles have been proven to create community engagement and provide the same relaxing benefits as meditation. Chanting has been shown to do the same. I have chosen Kirtan Kriya chanting as an addition to the drum circle, as the effects are proven to be accessible and immediate for people living with dementia. I then add breathwork and vagal nerve calming stretches to create a program that delivers powerful results. I provide a monthly template that is simple to learn and only the drum circle changes. Drums are not needed; I use body rhythm.

Reminiscing is great for language skills and bonding. It is also a great way to bond and share. I build reminiscing sessions from topics such as pop culture, history, and music to ensure engaging conversations occur.

Every month, I create visual gestures for a new song, poem, or story. Even if words are not accessible, gestures remain. This is a fun way to act out stories and songs and a way for all people to brainstorm relatable gestures.
